Don Rickles Dies
Don Rickles, 90, honorary Rat Pack member, celebrity roast guest, Mr. Warmth and an entertainer for six decades, died at his home from kidney failure in Los Angeles April 6.
His influence in the entertainment business is impossible to encapsulate, from years as a nightclub comic to television shows like “CPO Sharkey” to movies like “McHale’s Navy” and Martin Scorsese’s “Casino” to his countless television appearances on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” and the various Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.
His live act thrived on insult comedy and only audience members who were total hockey-pucks requested front-row seats. The acerbic comedian headlined casinos from Las Vegas to Atlantic City for more than a half-century.
