Kevin Gates Sentenced

Kevin Gates has been sentenced to 30 months in jail after pleading guilty to felony gun possession and was reportedly expected to be transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections April 26.

The rapper’s attorney told TMZ they were “very pleased with the result” because the charge had a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Gates was issued a warrant for failing to appear in a 2013 gun case; the warrant was served the same day Gates was ending his sentence in Florida for kicking a woman in the face at one of his shows.

Gates was on the roster for the May 28 “Soundset” festival at the MN State Fairgrounds in Saint Paul, Minn.
