Kevin Garcia, Grandaddy Co-founder Dies
Kevin Garcia, 41, co-founder of Grandaddy, died after a stroke in Modesto, Calif., May 2.
Garcia and Jason Lytle formed the band in 1992 and in 1997 Grandaddy released its debut album, Under The Western Freeway.
Garcia had suffered a brain injury that doctors described as “catastrophic,” according to a GoFundMe page originally set up for Garcia’s recovery.
The band had plans to resume touring May 7 to support its album Last Place. Grandaddy split up in 2006 and reunited initially in 2012 for some live dates but returned to the studio to record Last Place, its first album in 11 years.
