Jimmy LaFave Succumbs To Cancer
Jimmy LaFave, 61, died of cancer in Austin, Texas, May 21, just days after a farewell concert in the singer/songwriter’s honor.
LaFave is considered one of the most influential artists of the Americana scene and is best known for his musical ties to Austin, where he recorded some his most influential albums, including 1992’s internationally acclaimed Austin Skyline.
His most requested song, ““Never Is A Moment,” appeared on his noted 2001 album Texoma. He was recently added to the Austin Music Hall of Fame and will be posthumously inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame June 14.
LaFave had shows scheduled at Quiet Valley Ranch in Kerryville, Texas, May 26 and the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival at Black Oak Ranch in Laytonville, Calif., June 22-23.
