The rapper has already discussed “Snoop Fest” with Magnolia Mayor Anthony Witherspoon, the McComb Enterprise Journal reported.
“We want to try to get it done this year but, if not, we will definitely do it next year,” Witherspoon told the paper.
Magnolia, hometown of Snoop Dogg’s father, has a population of 2,400 and is about 17 miles north of the Louisiana state line. The town is a 90-minute drive from New Orleans.
Snoop Dogg wants the festival to pay homage to the genres influenced by Mississippi, such as country, blues, gospel and hip hop. He would invite Mississippi natives Brandy and Ray J, David Banner and Soulja Boy to headline. He also wants to include local artists.
“I think the first should have what the heritage of Mississippi is about and then the second day should be about the generation that took it to another level,” Snoop Dogg said.
