Pegi Young Takes ‘Raw’ On The Road
Pegi Young & The Survivors is headed out on a brief tour of the Southeast later this month.
Jay Blakesberg – Pegi Young
Young is supporting her 2017 album, Raw, which she wrote following her split from Neil Young.
“Raw, as the title implies, is anything but timid,” NPR’s Alison Fensterstock writes. “Written with the Muscle Shoals icon Spooner Oldham, it’s a searching, tough and vulnerable memoir that bravely explores all the corners of heartbreak, from blunt-force anger to sorrow to brief winks of humor.”
She’ll be joined on the road by organist/pianist Oldham, guitarist Kelvin Holly, drummer Phil Jones, and bassist Shonna Tucker.
The excursion begins June 15 at Nashville’s The Basement. Stops on road trip include Birmingham, Ala (June 18); Oxford, Miss. (June 20); Waverly, Ala. (June 24); and Atlanta (June 25). Young has also lined up a June 23 gig at Cypress Moon Studios in Sheffield, Ala., located just outside of Muscle Shoals.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the road with The Survivors and excited about making some stops in few places we’ve never been,” Young said. “Spooner, Kelvin and Shonna hail from the great Muscle Shoals area so it’s going to be great to be playing some shows together down in their neck of the woods.”
