Bennett Morgan Dies
Bennett Morgan, a well-known jazz agent, died May 31 in New York.

Morgan, 85, loved music from a young age and eventually got into managing bands.
After a short time as a pharmacist, he launched his industry career by forming The Bennett Morgan Agency, Inc., in the late ’60s in Philadelphia.
In 1971, Morgan became a principal at the Sutton Artists Agency in New York City.
He worked with top acts including Dave Brubeck, Errol Garner, “Dizzy” Gillespie, Herbie Mann, Stan Getz, Tito Puente, and Count Basie.
Morgan then formed Bennett Morgan & Associates, Ltd. in 1989, adding artists such as Eartha Kitt, John Pizzarelli, Diane Reeves, Cassandra Wilson, and Rosemary Clooney to his roster.
He retired in 2009.
