Residency News: John Fogerty, Dave Chappelle
John Fogerty extends his residency at the Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas … Dave Chappelle sets dates for a month-long stay at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
Citing “overwhelming demand,” John Fogerty announced another 15 performances today for his Sin City run.
Fogerty debuted his residency at the Encore Theatre in March after previously playing The Venetian Theatre in 2016.
The acclaimed roots rocker will return to the Encore Theatre in late September. The new Vegas shows are split up between the fall and early 2018, with nine gigs scheduled between Sept. 20 and Oct. 7 and the rest booked Jan. 10-20.

Fogerty will be delighting fans with Creedence Clearwater Revival tunes such as “Fortunate Son,” “Down On The Corner” and “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” along with selections from his solo career. Perhaps he’ll show off his new collaborative song with Brad Paisley, “Love and War,” about the mistreatment of veterans.
“As a kid, especially one who wanted to be a musician, I thought of [Las Vegas] as a city where they put you out to pasture,” he told Vegas Seven. “I certainly didn’t think I was headed here. But a lot of things have changed. I’ve changed. And rock ’n’ roll in a Las Vegas hotel is now embraced. So my attitude is: ‘Hey, let’s give that a whirl. Let’s begin a new chapter. Let’s bring our best game.’”
Tickets go on sale to the public June 16 at 10 a.m. PDT, starting at $59.50 plus applicable fees.
The show is produced by Julie Fogerty and directed by Ken Ehrlich and Raj Kapoor in association with AEG Presents.

The Roots joins Chappelle Aug. 1-4. The rest of the schedule features Chris Rock Aug. 5, Erykah Badu Aug. 9, Trevor Noah Aug. 18, Childish Gambino Aug. 19, and Ali Wong Aug. 24. Additional special guests are yet to be announced for Aug. 15 and Aug. 24.

Performing at the Essence Festival in New Orleans.
Earlier this year Chappelle released the first two of three specials with Netflix: “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and “The Age Of Spin.”
“Dave Chappelle is back for real,” A.C. Club’s Dennis Perkins writes. “Since both shows were taped before the 2016 presidential election, neither deals at all with Donald Trump and his race-baiting, misogynistic rhetoric per se, but both outings see the comic delving into the politics of sex, race, and gender in ways that dig deeper and carve broader than mere character assassination or political critique. Chappelle digs to the very human bedrock and holds up what he’s discovered – whether you want to look at it or not.”
A Chase cardmember presale for the NYC gigs starts June 13. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 16.
