“The Cox X: Tour” kicks off Oct. 20 at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. Dates are booked across the States, including performances in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Boston and Atlanta. The last confirmed stop is Austin’s Paramount Theatre Nov. 15. An announcement says that additional dates will be added.
The Quin sisters are also showing love to their native country, with gigs in Vancouver, British Columbia; Calgary, Alberta; and Edmonton, Alberta.
Tegan and Sara’s fifth full-length effort was the duo’s first release to chart on the top 200 albums chart, as well as the alternative and rock albums charts. The Con was co-produced by Tegan and Sara with Death Cab for Cutie founding member Chris Walla. It was nominated for a Juno Award and a Polaris Music Prize.
“The first four records of our career felt like we were navigating winding mountain roads,” Tegan said in a statement. “With The Con, it was obvious we had turned a corner and hit an open stretch of highway. It felt like our first fully realized Tegan and Sara record. Which made it then and still makes it now a very important record to us.”
Sarah added, “To launch The Con in 2007, we performed the album sequentially. It was a difficult album to translate live, because most of the songs had deep layers of ideas and textures, taken directly from our home demos and made even denser in the studio. Much of the album hasn’t been performed live in nearly a decade and it’s with great pleasure that we take these beloved songs back to the stage.”
Presales for the tour are ongoing. Tickets go on sale to the public June 16. A portion of proceeds will go to the Tegan and Sara Foundation, “which fights for economic justice, health and representation of LGBTQ girls and women.”
