Bomba Estereo Goes Full Blast

Fresh off a tour supporting Arcade Fire in Europe, Bomba Estereo this summer embarks on a world tour that hits major U.S. clubs like Irving Plaza in New York and the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., along with major international festivals.

The Colombian-born Cumbia band announced the tour dates along with a new video for “Duele,” which will be on the band’s as-yet-announced new LP later this year.

Other headline dates include Portland’s Crystal Ballroom Aug. 10, Pepsi Center in Mexico City Oct. 11 and with their old friends Arcade Fire at the Pepsi Center in Denver Oct. 25 and Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, Mo., Oct. 27.

Festival dates include Outside Lands in San Francisco Aug. 12, Lollapalooza Berlin Sept. 9 and Rock In Rio in Brazil Sept. 23.

Bomba Estereo became friends with the Montreal-based Arcade fire years ago while spinning each other’s music in DJ sets and always hoped to tour together, according to the announcement.

The band has been getting a lot of buzz lately, with good press from The New York Times, NPR, Brooklyn Vegan and more than 20 million YouTube hits for the band’s thumping club anthem “Soy Yo” video.
