Webster Hall To Close For Renovations

The last date currently listed on the venue’s website is Aug. 9, a record release for Marateck. The last club night will be Aug. 5. At press time there was a projected 18-24 months of work lined up for the 1,500-capacity venue.
“Sad but true, the legendary and world-famous Webster Hall has been sold and will close as we know it,” Gerard McNamee Jr. of Webster Hall posted on his Facebook page. “[Webster] will be closed for an undisclosed period of time for demo, reno and transition to corporate ownership under Barclays/AEG/Bowery Presents.”
The closure isn’t breaking news, as Pollstar reported it earlier in the year when Excess dB Entertainment’s Heath Miller shared that Webster’s renovations would provide him an opportunity to build up the recently reopened
The future of current buyer Heath Miller and Nightclub VP Kenny Schachter was unclear at press time.
Webster Hall was named Pollstar Nightclub of the Year in 2016.
BSE and The Bowery Presents, AEG Presents’ New York partner, acquired a long-term lease, operating rights and assets to the venue earlier this year. Prior to the sale the venue was operated by the Ballinger family, which opened the venue in 1989.
