40 Watt Club Burglar Suspect Dies

The suspected burglar of the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Ga., died Aug. 3 after he was released on bond.

Michael Wilson’s obituary in the Athens Banner-Herald did not list his cause of death, reports The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A former contractor for the venue, Wilson was accused of stealing more than $20,000 worth of equipment in the July 28 robbery, including seven amplifiers, eight direct boxes and 37 microphones.

Wilson was arrested Aug. 1 after he tried to sell the stolen equipment at a Guitar Center in Greensville, S.C.

Cracker’s David Lowery, R.E.M.’s Mike Mills, and 40 Watt Club offered reward money for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.
