Wixen Music Publishing Showcases Artists

Andrew Bird and Lucinda Williams are among the top acts performing at Wixen Music Publishing’s own Americana and alternative-focused festival.

Set Sept. 23-24 at Pepperdine University’s Smothers Theatre in Malibu, Calif., the Wixen Music Authentic Voices Festival features some of the publishing company’s top talent.

The alternative-minded first day of the festival features Bird plus Wilding, Parker Millsap, Jonathan Richman. The second day showcases Williams along with fellow Americana acts Mike Stinson, Elizabeth Cook and Smothers Theatre.

“We came up with the idea for the Authentic Voices Festival in order to showcase some of the great contemporary American songwriting talent that we work with.” Randall Wixen, President of the publishing company, said in a statement. “These are all great writers who can evoke emotions and tell stories with words and melodies, and not just loop a beat and layer on auto-tuned vocals.”

Ticket prices range between $50 and $99 per day.
