Jessi Zazu Dies

Jessi Zazu, 28, lead singer of Nashville band Those Darlins, died of cancer Sept. 12.

“On September 12, we lost Jessi. We’re still reeling and we will be for a while,” the band said in a statement. The band also announced a YouCaring memorial fundraiser. 

It was announced in December that Zazu had been diagnosed with cervical cancer.

She went on to inspire others with #AintAfraid T-shirts and created art for Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s oncology department.

Those Darlins played a sassy, raucous form of indie rock and toured heavily from 2009 to 2016. They recorded three LPs.
