Rapino Talks Ticketmaster Presence
Ticketmaster’s plans to transition to primarily-mobile ticketing are picking up steam, and Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino spoke on the subject at a Goldman Sachs investor conference Sept. 14.
“The barcode’s going to go away,” Rapino was quoted as saying by Barron’s.
He went on to explain the working of Ticketmaster Presence, which uses electronic tickets or paper tickets with a special chip, and LN’s plans to increase its access to data and improve fan experience.
The obvious question with mobile ticketing remains: “What happens when the systems supporting electronic tickets fail?” which may be under more scrutiny after an Aug. 31 server issue prevented some customers from logging into their accounts during multiple NFL preseason games.
