Facility Assessment: Mexico City

So far, there are no reports of damage to live-performance facilities in Mexico City as it begins to recover from a devastating Sept. 19 earthquake.

Sources tell Pollstar that there is no damage to the 55,000-capacity Foro Sol stadium and, even though Shawn Mendes canceled tonight’s show at Auditorio Nacional, the 9,584-capacity arena is apparently undamaged. 

Ricky Martin tweeted that he is postponing his concert at el Zocalo originally planned for Sept. 20.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that a giant crack has appeared at Estadio Azteca, the massive stadium that is scheduled to host an NFL battle between the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders Nov. 19.  However, what was recently reported as a crack beneath the upper deck is apparently nothing more than a standard separation common in earthquake mitigation design.

At least 225 have died from the 7.1 earthquake, and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has declare three days of mourning for the devastation.
