Construction At ‘The Q’
The renovations on
Quicken Loans Arena – Underway
Renovations worth $140 million are getting under way at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Workers assembled cranes and erected fences around construction staging areas Sept. 14, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.
The project was at one point considered dead when Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert withdrew his offer to fund half of the $140 million renovations because opposition groups delayed the process and forced a ballot referendum.
Once Gilbert said he was done though, the city convinced Greater Cleveland Congregations to drop its demands for a referendum and construction was able to start before the NBA’s Sept. 15 deadline.
The renovations will change the exterior appearance of the arena, significantly expand the lobby size to add more space for dining, bars and public gathering and facilitate easier navigation for attendees.
