The committee unanimously approved releasing $37.5 million in state funding to renovate the 44-year-old, 10,000-seat facility. The money was originally part of a larger project including a new convention center, but ISU officials withdrew from that project in August to focus on the Hulman Center upgrade.

University officials said the renovations are scheduled to begin following the 2017-2018 men’s and women’s basketball seasons. The project is expected to take about two years and the facility will have limited activities during that time.
