Original Story:

Orlando police stopped a man wielding a knife and Lana Del Rey concert tickets outside the Amway Center Feb. 2 where the singer was playing that night, after the man had made social media comments that he was “running away” with his “queen.”

Michael Hunt, 43, had made disturbing comments on social media leading police to believe he intended to kidnap the singer. Hunt referred to Lana Del Rey (real name Elizabeth Grant) as his “queen” and suggested that after the Amway Center show, “our decisions will be as one.”

He also hinted that he was “leaving town for good” and would be “taking off” with the singer. Hunt was charged with aggravated stalking with a credible threat and attempted kidnapping with a weapon, according to an Orlando Police Department statement, which added that, if not for the tip from a community member, Hunt may have been able to enter the concert.

Recent Lana Del Rey Boxoffice reports submitted to Pollstar include Sept. 5 at the Bil Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, where she sold out 8,529 tickets and grossed $463,000, and the SSE Hydro in Scotland Aug. 23, where she sold 9,211 tickets and grossed $517,00.

While all’s well that ends well, the apparent kidnapping threat brings back memories of the loss of singer Christina Grimmie, who was shot dead by an apparent crazed fan in Orlando during a meet and greet after a performance in 2016.
