The Shed Offers Prelude Events To Tease 2019 Opening
A new venue to sprout up in New York City in 2019 is introducing itself to the public with a free, 12-day series of live events just one block away from the future location. The events will include performances by ABRA, Arca, and Azealia Banks.
The Shed is set to be a 200,000 square-foot “multi-arts center” to include a theater, skylit event space and two floors of art gallery space on the west side of Manhattan.
The event series, titled “A Prelude to The Shed” will be held on an undeveloped lot at 10th Ave. and 30th St. in Manhattan, one block away from the eventual site of The Shed. Admission will be free and it will include artistic, dance and architectural elements, as well as the concerts.
Programming for the Prelude will also include panels, and an “experimental school” each morning.
“Prelude begins to demonstrate The Shed’s mission to nurture artistic invention by commissioning and presenting new work for a wide audience,” The Shed’s Founding Artistic Director and CEO Alex Poots said in a statement.
