The Pollstar Live! Michael Rapino Keynote Q&A with Emporium Presents co-founder Dan Steinberg can now be relived in all of its entertaining and insightful glory now that it’s available via the Promoter 101 podcast.

Since being posted online Thursday, it has already broken a record as the most played Promoter 101 podcast ever. That’s not surprising, seeing as how the Live Nation President/CEO is the most powerful promoter in the whole damn world.

During the interview, which was recorded at Pollstar Live! at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown Feb. 7, Rapino noted that he was given a list of potential interviewers from which to choose for the keynote and he went with Steinberg in an effort to “keep it real.”
The independent promoter / podcast host was just the man for the job. With Steiny managing to find a balance between asking the hard-hitting questions and keeping the conversation playful, the 45-minute keynote flies by.
The interview includes questions about security, the secondary ticketing market, why Live Nation didn’t go for the SMG sale, whether it’s become a one-horse race and independent promoters are “fucked,” and Rapino’s thoughts about the 2017 debacles of Fyre Festival and Huka Entertainment.

Steinberg also had Rapino go through a lightening round of questions (Canadian or American, Tim Hortons or Dunkin’ Donuts, private or commercial) as well as answering a few “Real or Rumor” questions, including whether he has a spiritual guru.

Along with the keynote Q&A, the podcast includes Steinberg and co-host / artist manager Luke Piece breaking down the music news of the week and a tribute to APA Head of Music Troy Blakely from promoter Danny Zelisko.
