In addition to the two stages of music, the event is promising 70 booths featuring local and regional tattoo artists, more than 15 food trucks, the Hellzapoppin Rock n’ Roll Circus Sideshow, and a tour of the famous venue, which is estimated to take 1.5 hours.
“We are very excited to host the 2018 Inkcarceration Music and Tattoo Festival,” executive director of the Histororic Ohio State Reformatory said in a statement. “They plan to bring next level entertainment to our venue and we hope to have a long and prosperous relationship with them that helps benefit and secure the future of our organization, the Historic site itself, and the community.”
Obviously artists like B.B. King and Johnny Cash were famous for performing at prisons with inmates still incarcerated, but other venues have also held events at historical slammers. Old Idaho Penitentiary hosted Gem State Jam in 2010 and 2011 and Jail Break was held at the Old Jail in Charleston, S.C., in 2012.
