The announcement came via a Facebook post from the Starwood Nightclub, reading: “It is with heavy heart that we post our dear friend passed away.”
It continued: “There are no words that will comfort those who loved him, and there are no words for those who made money off him and didn’t pay it back when he needed them.”
“To his family, friends and fans, our deepest condolences. Rest in Peace Chalo!”
Throughout the years he was a member of Izzy Stradlin & The Ju Ju Hounds, The Plugz, Cruzados, and Cracker. He also played with the likes of Bob Dylan and Joan Osborne.
Izzy Stradlin’s (unverified) Twitter paid tribute to Quintana with a series of posts: “Condolences to Charlie Quintana`s family, friends and fans. …. Charlie Quintana was a great drummer and band mate in the 92 era Ju Ju Hounds … and an extremely well-developed sense of humor and his contributions to music as a percussionist are vast.” – Francisco Rendon
