Concert Pulse: Tyler / Vince Staples, Diana Krall Debut; Katy Perry Returns
Erika Goldring – Tyler, The Creator
The package tour of Tyler, The Creator and Vince Staples has clearly been a hit, with the tour reporting more than 5,000 tickets sold per show and hitting No. 35 on this week’s Global Concert Pulse.
The tour has taken in a somewhat wide range of venue sizes, with reports to Pollstar including 7,500 tickets sold Feb. 2 at Valley View Casino Center, which grossed $276,193. Others include 5,885 tickets (sold out) at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., Feb. 25 ($269,175) and 4,504 (sold out) at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, which grossed $158,750.
Pollstar spoke to WME’s Doug Singer about the tour, who said it was a bit of a homecoming.
“Tyler and Vince had gone out together as part of a package with A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator and Danny Brown on our first tour with him,” said Singer, who represents Staples alongside fellow WME agents Kevin Shivers, Peter Nash and Jared Rampersaud. “It’s great to follow up that tour, which was fall of 2015, with this one.

“This is really Tyler and Vince standing on their own two feet and more than anything else really emerging as true A-level-caliber talents on their own,” Singer said. Tyler, The Creator is repped at WME by Brent Smith and Kevin Shivers domestically and James Rubin internationally.
Katy Perry, who hit the Concert pulse in January, is back and this time with bigger grosses, at No. 9 with an average of $1.13 million per night and just under 12,000 tickets sold per show.
This is an increase from January’s chart, which had her grossing $997,860 per city and selling fewer than 10,000 tickets on average.
She hit the West Coast hard over the last couple months, including 17,136 tickets sold to the Tacoma Dome in Washington Feb. 3, which grossed $1.43 million, and two sold-out shows at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, which sold a combined 22,888 tickets and grossed $1.76 million.
Perry has been busy, with 52 more dates on the books and having just played South America, about to hit Asia before Mexico, Europe and Australia. She was recently added as a host on American Idol and has been in the public spotlight appearing at benefit concerts for the Southern California mudslides in her hometown Santa Barbara area. She was also announced to be playing another benefit in May at the Santa Barbara Bowl, sandwiched between dates in Mexico and Germany. Perry is represented by CAA’s Mitch Rose.
