Austin City Limits Teases Festival Lineup In Local TV Ad: David Byrne, Khalid, Sylvan Esso, Residente
Austin City Limits Music Festival organizers teased some of the festival lineup with a clever local TV ad, according to Austin 360, which advertised a drug called “Acielle (zilkerus festum)” that cures patients who lack exposure to music.
The ad, which ran on KXAN-TV according to Austin 360, sneakily threw in some of the artists appearing at this year’s festival. That list includes David Byrne (who is on a mammoth tour and played Coachella), Sylvan Esso, Khalid, Puerto Rican artist Residente, The National, Chvrches, Jungle, Prince backing band the Revolution, Trampled by Turtles and Houndmouth.
The full lineup is expected Tuesday, when passes go on sale. This year’s fest is Oct. 5-7 and Oct. 12-14 at its usual location of Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, produced by C3 Presents.
Last year’s lineup included Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chance The Rapper, The Killers, Gorillaz, Martin Garrix, The XX, Solange, and many others.
The local Austin-American Statesman just reported that C3 Presents is putting up to $2 million into Zilker Park to improve site functionality. The paper says the project is the latest park improvement paid through the Austin Parks Foundation, using $26 million that came from ACL music festival ticket sales.
