Aretha Franklin had one date on the books, at Boston’s Wang Theatre – Boch Center, but the Queen Of Soul is calling it off due to doctors orders.
The gig was to take place June 2, but Parachute Concerts announced today that the show is off and will not be rescheduled.
“We regret to inform that Aretha Franklin’s June 2 show at Boch Center Wang Theatre has been cancelled, citing doctors orders to stay off the road and rest completely,” Parachute Concerts wrote on its Facebook page. “We Wish Ms. Franklin a speedy recovery and look forward to her future return to Boston.”
Aretha is known as one of the most legendary voices in modern music, but she was reportedly eyeing retirement last year.
Aretha had a serious health scare in 2010, undergoing serious surgery, but she has since recovered and returned to touring, though she does sometimes still cancel, as she had to step out of two performances earlier this year. Rod Stewart had to step in to take her place at the
