Event Safety & Security Summit Returns To London In October
– E3S
The second edition of the Event Safety & Security Summit (E3S) takes place at the Congress Centre in central London, Oct. 30.
Following last year’s sold-out premiere at the Intercontinental Hotel at The O2, the organizers of E3S, which is the same team that’s behind the ILMC, increased the capacity to 400 attendees, who will find space in the new location.
E3S is produced in collaboration with the National Arenas Association (NAA), the European Arenas Association (EAA) and the Association of Event Venues (AEV), with input from event security companies, theater and festival companies.
ILMC head Greg Parmley said that the 2017 edition was meant to be a one-off. “After extremely positive feedback from attendees, we’re going to run a second meeting with space to accommodate extra demand.”
Last year’s premiere was attended by officials with AEG Worldwide, BBC, England & Wales Cricket, Feld Entertainment, Festival Republic, FKP Scorpio, Gatwick Airport, G4S, Live Nation, Manchester Arena, NEC Group, Roskilde Festival, Showsec International, The O2, the Walt Disney Company, Wembley Stadium and the WWE.
The first E3S had shown, among other things, the need for the European events industry to share best practices among each other, and also its willingness to do so, according to one of last year’s attendees.
The new president of the EAA, Peter van der Veer, confirmed in a recent Pollstar interview, one of the main points on the association’s agenda was concerned with cooperating with other associations from other fields, such as production or safety and security. “In the end, the sharing of information will make the business more professional, and thus enhance the event experience of our clients and visitors,” he said.
Commenting on the second edition of E3S, van der Veer said: ” E3S is an important platform for the whole live event market and should be on the calendar of anyone who is involved in safety and security of shows and other live events.”
The schedule for this year’s edition will be published in August.
