Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit is asking for help in locating frontman Scott Hutchison, who was last seen or heard from at 1 a.m.  GMT May 9 after sending out a few troubling tweets.
“We are worried about Scott, who has been missing for a little while now,” the group posted on its Facebook page, along with a similar message on Twitter. “He may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now. Please could Scott or anyone with any information on his whereabouts please contact Police Scotland (101). We will post updates as and when we receive information.”
Drummer Grant Hutchison posted a photo of the 36-year-old on Instagram, with a caption asking, “Has anyone seen my brother/bandmate/best friend? …  If somehow you are reading this Scott then can you just let someone know you are safe please? We love you very much.”
The drummer noted that Scott was last seen at a hotel in South Queensferry, a town to the west of Edinburgh, Scotland, and that the singer/guitarist’s phone was with the police.
The BBC spoke to Insp. Graeme Dignan who said, “We are keen to locate Scott as soon as possible to ensure he is safe and well and would urge anyone who can assist with our ongoing inquiries to come forward.”
Video footage shows Scott at the Dakota Hotel in South Queensferry. The musician was last seen wearing a dark baseball hat, a navy jacket with a hood, grey or khaki trousers and white tennis shoes, according to the BBC.
“Be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given. I’m so annoyed that it’s not. I didn’t live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones,” Scott tweeted May 8, followed by another message that simply said, “I’m away now. Thanks.”
Consequence of Sound points out that the frontman had previously spoken about struggling with depression after a 2016 “Twitter meltdown” that included a message saying, “Goodbye to Frightened Rabbit. All it has ever been is me boring people with lies and making creative currency out of other people’s hurt.”
He later assured fans that the band wasn’t over with a post on Facebook that include the following message: “Sometimes when life goes awry the reaction is to destroy and say ‘fuck it all’ and unfortunately that’s what I did. In spite of this, it’s not the end of our band and (in the sobering light of day) I don’t truly believe the things I said. On the plus side I have a greater appreciation of the pitfalls of mixing alcohol, depression and social media. In case you were in any doubt, it’s a terrible idea.”
