You’re Invited To Stevie Wonder’s Song Party
Four lucky cities are getting the chance to see the legendary Stevie Wonder live this year for a series of shows in his “Stevie Wonder Song Party: A Celebration of Life, Love & Music.”
The cities are: Las Vegas; Atlantic City; National Harbor, Md.; and Springfield, Mass.
An American Express presale begins May 16 at 10 a.m. PDT and the general onsale is May 21 at 10 a.m. PDT.
Wonder is promising an immersive, participatory experience for his fans that will draw on his extensive catalogue, which has sold more than 100 million album units and earned him 25 Grammys.
His only other gig for the year is at Grandoozy festival in Denver, Colo., Sept. 16. That event runs Sept. 14-16 and also includes Kendrick Lamar and Florence + The Machine.
Wonder is still a big draw, though he doesn’t tour much any more. A highlight from his last big headline tour was when he sold out Madison Square Garden Arena in 2015, moving 15,381 tickets for a $1.6 million gross. That year saw him gross $28.1 million in 34 cities, good enough to get him to No. 34 on the Top 200 North American Tours chart in accordance with Pollstar Boxoffice reports.
Wonder is so popular, in fact, that one promoter made a lot of money on a supposed performance from the artist at the University of Hawaii that was never actually booked.
The now infamous ‘Wonder Blunder’ landed a dishonest promoter nearly five years in prison.
