CTS Eventim Enters Spain By Acquiring Majority Of Doctor Music
The German live entertainment giant has been operating a ticketing service in Spain since 2014, when it acquired entradas.com. By acquiring Doctor Music, CTS Eventim has established its promotion business to the country as well.
CTS Eventim CEO Klaus-Peter Schulenberg said, “The Spanish market has shown encouraging growth in recent years and is one of the most important destinations for artists from across the world. In the future, we will be able to offer them not only efficient ticketing, but also a range of tour options. With its international portfolio of artists and inventory strengths, Doctor Music is the ideal partner for this advance.”
Sala added, “We were one of the first concert promoters to bring the greatest pop-rock stars to Spain, 35 years ago. Since then, Doctor Music has worked tirelessly to put Spain on the international rock and pop stage. This partnership is a huge leap forward for my team and myself, allowing us to tap the resources and the network of a global player to offer both artists and fans the best services for an unforgettable live experience.”
The Spanish live music industry grew 20.6 percent year-on-year to €269.2 million ($331 million) in 2017. It marks the fourth consecutive year of growth for the Spanish industry.
Upcoming concerts promoted by Doctor Music include The Vamps at La Riviera in Madrid May 24 and at Razzmatazz in Barcelona, May 25, Kiefer Sutherland at the Teatro Barceló in Madrid June 16 and at the Bikini in Barcelona, June 17, Camila Cabello at Barcelona’s Sant Jordi Club June 26 and a day later at WiZink Center. Katy Perry is scheduled for June 28 at the Palau Sant Jordi. Shawn Mendes, Parov Stelar, Jason Derulo, and U2 are also on the list.
As announced in 2017, Doctor Music will revive its legendary Doctor Music Festival for a one-off edition in 2019 at the Valle d’Aneu in the Catalan Pyrenees July 12-14, 20 years after the last edition took place there.
It was the first-ever music festival in Spain. Acts that previously played there include David Bowie, Rage Against The Machine, Blur, Beastie Boys, and Muse.
