MTV’s television series “Wild ‘N Out” is hitting the road for a full-length North American tour with creator, producer and host Nick Cannon this year.
The show is an improvisational comedy show that has been running since 2005. It basically pits comedians and celebrities against each other in improv challenges, freestyle raps and musical performances.
The live show promises to include stand-up performances, audience interaction and performances from hip-hop stars.
The tour starts Aug. 16 at Minneapolis’s Target Center and continues for more than a month, wrapping Oct. 6 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.
VIP tickets for the tour go on sale June 13, and the general onsale is June 15.
Cannon is also scheduled to perform at Houpalooza Music Festival in Missouri City, Texas, June 16.
Pollstar talked to Jared Paul of Faculty Management& Productions, who has been an integral part of bringing TV hits like “Glee” or “Dancing With The Stars” live.
“You have to understand these billion-dollar brands, the people that are responsible for them, what makes them tick and how to make them not only creatively and financially successful, but one of the most important things is you try not to hurt the TV show or the film or the intellectual property,” Paul said. “I believe [Glee] was Taylor Swift and One Direction-level business – we were doing 60,000 people in a market across two days. There were days that we were doing two shows, two days in a row.”
