Rapper Jimmy Wopo was gunned down in a car in Pittsburgh June 18 at the age of 21.
His manager Taylor Maglin confirmed the news on Facebook, saying “I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world. He was destined for greatness and he wanted the best for his friends, family and community.”
Wopo had multiple videos with more than 1 million views on YouTube and his attorney said he had spoken with the artist minutes before the shooting to discuss a potential contract with a well-known record label. In 2016 he received an endorsement from hitmaker Mike Will Made It.
Wopo, real name Taylor Maglin, died at the hospital, and another male in the car with him during the shooting was wounded, but survived, according to Pittsburgh Police.
Homocide Detectives are investigating the shooting and encourage anyone with information to call 412.323.7800.
