Yonder Mountain String Band Books Fall Dates
What’s that o’er yonder? Could it be Yonder Mountain String Band rambling around North America mixing headline and festival plays?
The band has a whole slew of dates booked, the next of which is at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., with The Infamous Stringdusters Aug. 4. After that, it’s mostly headline plays until FreshGrass Festival Sept. 14-16, where they are listed for all three days. YMSB is also booked for multiple nights at Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, Fla., Oct. 26-28, and Strings & Sol in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, Dec. 7-11.
Strings & Sol is the band’s last play booked to date in 2018, and prior to that the last headline show on the routing is Nov. 18 in Grand Rapids, Mich. There is also one 2019 gig booked for Feb. 10 in Huntington, W. Va.
The band is pushing tunes of its latest album, Love. Ain’t Love, featuring the return Allie Kral on the violin. Kral had previously stepped away to give birth to her first child.
Tickets to all 2018 shows are on sale now.
Bluegrass isn’t often a big-money genre, but Yonder Mountain String Band seems to be in place where they can bring in at least $10,000 per show in most markets. For example, the band grossed $24,425 on two nights at The Independent in San Francisco March 23-24, and $10,835 at The Wilma in Missoula, Mont., March 10.
