Hardwell Declares Indefinite Hiatus
Hardwell announced he is stepping away from his responsibilities as a touring and recording artist via a post on Facebook Sept. 7.
“Over the past few years I’ve come to know myself better and better and over time I realized that there’s still so much I want to share with my family and friends, so many roads I’d like to explore, but being Hardwell 24/7 leaves too little energy, love, creativity and attention for my life as a normal person to do so,” the EDM star wrote.”
“This is why I have decided to clear my schedule indefinitely to be completely liberated from targets, interviews, deadlines, release dates, etc. I’ve always dealt with all the pressure that comes with the heavy touring schedule, but for now, it felt too much, like a never ending rollercoaster ride.”
Hardwell announced he will still do an all-ages show at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam Oct. 18, but outside of that his touring schedule wrapped Sept. 6 in Ibiza.
Hardwell has been a regular at EDM festivals around the world for the last several years. He played at Lollapalooza Brazil, Ultra Music Festival South Africa and Tomorrowland in Belgium this year.
He also did solid headline business, reporting a $93,300 gross off 2,448 tickets in Atlanta and a $163,170 off 3,300 tickets at Echostage in Washington, D.C., in 2016.
Although he won’t be beholden to deadlines or release dates, Hardwell has said he will continue making music.
