GUTS Tickets, the blockchain ticketing company from Amsterdam, Netherlands, just completed what is calls the “biggest blockchain ticket sale to date.”

50,000 tickets for Dutch comedian Jochem Myjer’s 36-show residency at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam sold through GUTS’s system in 3.5 hours over the weekend.

None of those tickets ended up on the secondary market. The speed of the sale was simply down to the high demand for Myjer tickets.

GUTS claims to end ticket fraud and scalping through its use of blockchain technology. Co-founder Maarten Bloemers explained how in an earlier interview with Pollstar.

The company will now analyse the data of its system’s successful trial run, and will use the information to scale further. GUTS Tickets is the first user of the blockchain based GET ticketing protocol.
