Canadian indie-pop group Walk Off The Earth has announced a concert to honor keyboardist Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor, who died of natural causes on December 30.
The free memorial tribute will take place at Civic Square in the band’s hometown of Burlington, Ontario. Kicking off at 4:30 p.m. and running for three hours, the event will feature acoustic performances by members of Walk Off The Earth, Barenaked Ladies, Monster Truck, USS, Darenots and Saint Alvia, as well as Scott Helman.
In partnership with Taylor’s family, MusiCounts, an organization devoted to providing musical instruments to underserved children, will collect donations at the event. The event’s poster instructs fans to “bundle up” and “bring a candle.”
For fans unable to attend in person, Walk Off The Earth will also livestream the event on their Facebook page.
“Mike loved our fans so much,” the band wrote in a statement. “We want to honor him and his legacy by continuing our world tour to bring the spirit of this memorial to our fans across the globe.”
Last month, Walk Off The Earth announced the world tour they allude to in their statement. After a handful of February gigs in their native Canada, the band will trek through the United States in May, and Europe in June and July before returning to America in late July. Along the way, they’ll play gigs at venues including Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and London’s Wembley Arena.
