Morrissey Takes On Broadway Residency
Brent N. Clarke / Invision / AP – Morrissey
Morrissey makes a stop at Anthem in Washington, D.C., Nov. 30.
There will be a light that never goes out on Broadway … at least for seven days this May, as Morrissey has announced a residency at the 1,505-capacity Lunt-Fontanne Theater in the Big Apple.
The run is slated to run over seven days from May 2 to May 11 and will cover The Mozz’s work with The Smiths and his solo stuff, including his new cover album California Son, due out May 24.
Morrissey’s Broadway residency follows in the footsteps of Bruce Springsteen’s incredibly successful run at Walter Kerr Theater, which drew to a close at the end of 2018.
Of course, Morrissey is known for not always making his scheduled appearances. In 2018 he postponed a full Europe and U.K. tour and he bailed on a string of dates in 2017, many of which were due to health issues, prompting Pollstar to take a broader look at his misses.
Still, we have no reason to believe he will be missing these Broadway gigs. Tickets go on sale March 8 at 10 a.m.
