Sara Romweber, who was the drummer for the Let’s Active, Snatches of Pink and Dex Romweber Duo has died at 55.
The drummer died of a brain tumor, her manager confirmed to Variety, ending a career that spanned multiple bands and genres.
Probably best known for her work with Let’s Active, she helped found that band in 1981 with Mitch Easter and Faye Hunter when she was just a teenager. Romweber played with Let’s Active until 1984, though she and Easter did perform a reunion show for charity in 2014.
Jon Wurster, drummer for Superchunk, wrote a lengthy remembrance of Romweber on Facebook, saying: “Rest in power, Sara. You made and continue to make a massive difference in so many lives.” Many other remembrances and admirations poured out all over social media.
Her latest project, Dex Romweber Duo, was carried out with her brother Dex.
