Miami Beach Pop Launching With Chance The Rapper, Jack Johnson, Daddy Yankee
A new multi-genre super festival is ready to make waves in Florida as the inaugural edition of Miami Beach Pop Festival has unveiled a massive lineup.
The lineup is topped by Chance The Rapper, Jack Johnson, Daddy Yankee, Kygo, Leon Bridges, The Roots, The Raconteurs, Maggie Rogers, Juanes, Jessie Reyez, Quinn XCII, Gryffin, and Margo Price, touching on everything from hip-hop, rock, reggaeton, electronic, country to pop.
In addition to the artists performing sets there will be special collaborations including “Sol Jam” with Nile Rodgers and special guests, an all-star celebration of Bob Marley led by his son Stephen, and the “Frost School Of Music AME” featuring Ben Folds.
The event is being put on by Frameless Creative, with ACT Productions and The Parker company. Tickets go on sale June 21 at 10 a.m. EST.
The Miami event is one of several North American festival stops planned for Chance The Rapper, whose agent Cara Lewis recently revealed to Pollstar is planning a 37-date arena tour. Chance is also scheduled to play Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas in September and was one of the headliners committed to the embattled Woodstock 50 in New York.
Chance also has a new album coming in July, which he has said will be substantially different from his previous projects.
Fellow headliner Jack Johnson will not only be bringing his tunes to Miami Beach Pop for his only North American gig in 2019, but he is bringing his BYOBottle campaign, which launched on Earth Day this year.
“The timing is right, it feels like something that people want do, artists, fans, promoters alike, everybody wants to move in this direction,” Johnson told Pollstar of the campaign in April. “Really it’s just helping to provide resources and a place for that conversation to continue to happen easily.
“Timing has a lot to do with it. We’re not asking for something to change overnight, or introduce some fresh idea, it’s something that seems to be happening in the world right now, and the campaign will help facilitate that in the music industry.”
