Hannibal Buress Signs With ICM Partners
Dan Dealy – Hannibal Buress
Hannibal Buress is once again being booked by ICM Partners, after previously being a client in 2014. With a team of agents led by Adam Ginivisian, the agency will handle worldwide representation for the multi-hyphenate’s touring and personal appearances.
In addition to his work as prolific comedian, Buress is a writer, actor and host of the podcast “Handsome Rambler.”
His filmography includes “Daddy’s Home,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Baywatch,” and animated flicks such as “Angry Birds” and “The Secret Life of Pets.” He’s co-hosted Adult Swim’s “The Eric Andre Show” since 2012, as well as contributing to the show as a writer and producer, as well as starring on “Broad City” from 2014-2019.
Buress’ latest stand-up special, “Hannibal Buress Comedy Camisado” is available on Netflix.
A 2015 profile from the New York Times praised Buress as “a supremely gifted and respected comic.” The article noted that while in some ways his 2014 Billy Cosby rape joke, which went viral ahead of the 2015 criminal charges, marked his big breakthrough, it was surprising “for a comic not known for provocative moral stands. He’s less likely to do hard-hitting diatribes about race, gender or politics than to mock rap songs or pick apart figures of speech (like his joke on why raping and pillaging are often paired).”
The Times detailed how he’s refined his style as he played bigger room, speeding up “his delivery and expanded into a rambling, layered series of jokes that often imagine alternative histories or pet theories in theatrical scenes.”
Reports submitted to Pollstar in 2019 for Burress include a four-show run at Harlow’s Nightclub in Sacramento, Calif., Jan. 28-29, that sold 1,000 tickets and grossed $35,000.
