Venue management and concert booking software company Prism has welcomed ticketing veteran Tom Ewald as chief revenue officer, reporting to Prism CEO Matt Ford.
“Empowering independent promoters and venues has been the common thread through all my work in music, and so I’m thrilled to be joining a company like Prism that shares this core purpose,” Ewald said in a statement. “Prism is simplifying and streamlining really difficult processes for the independent community, and I can’t wait to get started on helping promoters and venues gain access to their data to make better and faster decisions.”
Ewald spent 14 years as director of entertainment sales with Ticketweb and Ticketmaster, later joining Ticketfly in 2009 including through its acquisition by Eventbrite in 2017. Ewald will continue to consult with Eventbrite over the next few months as the company continues to integrate Ticketfly clients to the Eventbrite platform after acquiring Ticketfly in 2017.
At Prism, Ewald will be focused on reaching the top of the market with his numerous relationships.
“We currently have a sales team that’s doing a fantastic job led by our founding team, but Tom is the G.O.A.T. for selling to our industry,” Prism CEO Matt Ford said in a statement. “I’ve personally had the pleasure to work with Tom through Prism’s continued partnership with Eventbrite, and there is no one more aligned with our company’s mission.”
In one year, Prism’s software has been adopted by over 100 promoters and 500 venues around the globe, including Disco Donnie Presents & React Presents, Brooklyn Bowl, Ad Hoc, PopGun Presents, Noise Pop, McMenamin’s (Oregon), Marathon Music in Tennessee, White Oak in Houston and in its hometown of Austin, Texas, Paramount Theatre, Antone’s, Come and Take It Productions, The Parish, Empire Control Room and Garage and others.
“For the thousands of independent promoters and venues in the US, having a single source of truth and real-time data at their fingertips is critical for them to be more organized, efficient and profitable,” said Stephen Sternschein, Prism co-founder and managing partner of Austin-based promoter Heard Presents. “It is increasingly important that Prism is actively engaging with this community, and so I’m thrilled to have Tom join our team and to benefit from his experience and the trust that he’s earned.” Prism focuses on promoters booking multiple rooms and individual venues, who are able to track and centralize financial information in great detail, whereas a tour management logistics service primarily organizes calendars and logistical information for the road.
Prism recently secured $2.2 million from angel investors.
