Good News For Good Ones: Rwandan Band’s Visa Approved In Time For Tour
– The Good Ones
As explained in a recent guest post in Pollstar, the touring future of Rwandan-based music group The Good Ones was in jeopardy as the band attempted to get visas in time to be part of Glen Hansard’s tour.
News has just arrived that after being rejected on a first attempt, a second visa application has been approved in time for the group to make its debut as the first original-music Rwandan group to tour the United States, according to producer Ian Brennan.
“We thank the US embassy in Kigali for their help and kindness. And we look forward to sharing our message of love and peace with America here on the 25th anniversary year of the Rwandan genocide,” The Good Ones leader, Adrien Kazigira, said in a statement to Pollstar.
The first three dates are opening the West Coast theater shows for Hansard, as The Good Ones’ third album, Rwanda, You Should Be Loved, will be released Nov. 8 by Anti- Records featuring special guests from Wilco, Sleater-Kinney, My Bloody Valentine, TV on the Radio, and Fugazi.
