Shattuck spent most of the ’80s in the garage-inspired all-female punk band The Pandoras before going on to form The Muffs with Pandoras member Melanie Vammen. Her most recent project, The Coolies, also with Vammen, released a debut EP in July with proceeds going to The ALS Association Golden West Chapter, according to NPR. She influenced a range of artists including the Pixies, Veruca Salt and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, who all paid tribute after hearing of Shattuck’s passing.
