The new Virgin Fest will debut June 6-7 at Los Angeles Banc of California Stadium and Exposition Park, with a focus on music, tech, “people and planet” and a heightened experience over three main stages.
Backed by Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson, with 2020 marking 50 years of the Virgin brand, and with the charge led by festival founder and CEO Jason Felts.
“It’s a music festival at its core through and through,” says Felts. “It’s going to be a combination of Top 40 artists and, in true fashion and dating back to the roots of Virgin, will feature some emerging artists,” Felts said.
Felts emphasized the festivals’ focus on technology and innovation, which will give fans “5 Minutes In The Future” activations of new technologies “that will surely blow their minds”
“My love of music led me to start Virgin Records nearly five decades ago,” Virgin founder Branson said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that Virgin’s musical heritage lives on through Virgin Fest. We look forward to bringing Virgin’s expertise in customer experience, innovation, and entertainment to our festival in Los Angeles, a place that has always been very near and dear to my heart.”
Logistically, the festival will utilize three main stages for music, with indoor and outdoor music and experiences and a capacity between 20,000 and 30,000 per day. While there will be seating available, it will not be a seated-ticketed event and all “fans” rather than “ticket buyers” will enjoy a heightened experience, according to Felts.

“The Virgin fest experience will focus on people and planet with a focus on inclusivity, Felts says, “irrespective of age, sex, race, color of skin, who you love, what religion you practice, which president you voted for, this is a place and environment of inclusivity.
“Bringing together a community of one gigantic weekend-long celebration, we thought no better city to do that in than the city of Los Angeles.”
Keeping with Branson’s environmental efforts, the festival will also prevent waste with no single-use plastic bottles or straws onsite, as well as a “first of its kind” reusable or deposit cup system.
The lineup for the inaugural festival is set to announce in early 2020 accompanied by the official public on sale.
Virgin’s festival operations recently acquired the KAABOO festival brand, with the announcement that the flagship Kaaboo Del Mar event near San Diego will now be known as Kaaboo San Diego and take place in downtown San Diego’s Petco Park next year. Felts says he looks forward to sharing more information next year.
