People say that knowledge is power, but Paradigm Talent Agency’s Mike Greisch knows that communication is the key to unlocking it. 

“I spend the vast majority of my time every day on the phone,” Greisch says. “… It’s about getting all of the pertinent information, distilling it to form a point of view, and communicating that POV directly.” 

It’s not surprising, then, that Greisch credits the late Chip Hooper as a mentor. 

“I learned the intangibles from Chip, like the importance of personal connections. No one connected with people like Chip. It’s a real skill to build connections and leverage those connections for your artists without damaging relationships,” he says. 

Working with a roster that includes Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz, Phish, Trey Anastasio, Ray LaMontagne, Foy Vance and Dispatch, it might seem like he has plenty on his hands already, but new fatherhood, he says, is the greatest. 

“This job requires a lot,” Greisch says, “not only from those in the business, but also from our families.” 

He’s bullish on the future, globally and, in a sense, individually. “I’m also hopeful for the growth of mental health and substance initiatives and resources that are available, such as MusiCares. We have been doing a lot internally at Paradigm to help grow those resources and make sure those who need help are getting it, but there is a lot more to be done across the industry.”
