‘Offset And Friends’ Hosting Virtual Livestream Event To Benefit Atlanta Community Food Bank
Offset is giving back to his hometown community during this difficult time by hosting a virtual music experience along with performances from fellow hip-hop artists Young Thug, Rich the Kid and SAINt JHN to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
The “Offset And Friends” one-night-only experience is set for April 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. PDT, presented by Oculus Venues and Supersphere. Avatar company Genies’ Avatar Agency is partnered with the event to bring the rappers’ personalized digital versions to life. All four of the artists are clients of UTA, which helped organize the livestream. Fans can enjoy the event via the Oculus Venues app on Oculus Quest or Oculus Go, and Live on Offset’s Facebook page.
“As someone raised in metro Atlanta, this event is the perfect opportunity for me to give back to the community that has supported me throughout my childhood and my career,” Offset said in a statement. “I am looking forward to putting on an immersive, one-of-a-kind show for my fans and joining the Atlanta Community Food Bank in their fight against hunger.”
Offset has kicked off donations to the food bank by personally donating 200,000 meals. Viewers watching the livestream can make additional donations using the donate button on Offset’s Facebook page. For every $1 donation received, Atlanta Community Food Bank can provide those in need with enough food for four nutritious meals.
Sarah Fonder-Kristy, Chief Development Officer for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, noted that the COVID-19 pandemic and related economic downturn have greatly impacted those with food insecurity.
“We are extremely grateful to Offset, Young Thug, Rich the Kid, and SAINt JHN for helping us offer nourishment to struggling seniors, hardworking families, and hungry children,” Fonder-Kristy said in a statement. “The need for meals has more than doubled since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the donations we receive from this event will be instrumental in our work to provide that relief.”
Offset, who is a member of the hip-hop trio Migos, released his debut studio album, Father of 4, in 2019. He was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Rap Performance” for the hit single “Clout” with wife Cardi B. In March he made his acting debut on “NCIS: Los Angeles” during an episode that included the debut of an original single “Danger.” His music has also been featured in the show “Euphoria,” along with the films “Bright,” “The Hate U Give,” “Mile 22,” “The Equalizer 2” and “The First Purge.”
