The late-great Little Richard, one of the all-time greatest liver performers, onstage with his band in 1956.
The passing of Little Richard this weekend (May 9) impacted and broke the hearts of a huge swath of the artists and so many in today’s music business. As one of the chief architects of rock ‘n’ roll, with a piercing wail, pounding piano, swagger, flamboyance and transcendent live performances, he irrevocably changed popular music. From Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page and Mick Jagger to Chance the Rapper, Margo Price, Carole King and Iggy Pop to Madison Square Garden, Third Man Records, officiating Tom Petty’s Wedding and far beyond, here’s a sampling of some of the vast outpouring of well-deserved tributes to the person who helped shape contemporary music as we know it.
