The Disruptors
Brooke Michael Kain
While the business of live has been shut down, it’s easy to forget how much was being done to enhance each fan’s concertgoing experience, but Brooke Michael Kain has been on the forefront of using data to do just that.
The first-ever Chief Digital Officer at AEG Presents, she has headed up initiatives to use data collected through ticket purchases and on-site behavior to offer guests rewards like VIP-upgrade discounts and exclusive merch deals for the most loyal fans at Stagecoach, or a line-skipping partnership with Postmates at Coachella.
During her tenure at AEG her focus has been focusing on finding new ways to engage with fans, digitally and socially, and prior to the pandemic she was heading up a team of more than 70. In addition to pioneering new on-site experiences she oversees AEG Presents’ digital media strategy and has leveraged data to drive ticket sales and broker strategic partnerships.
In addition to massive festivals and AEG’s official media, Kain oversee the company’s work with massive tours and artists, including country sensation Luke Combs, whose current efforts at fan engagement include TikTok videos, livestreams on Twitch with esports org FaZe Clan, and a performance on the “ACM Presents: Our Country” TV special.
Prior to her time at AEG Presents she worked as Head of Digital Marketing at three of the top brands in Apple Music and iTunes, Interscope Records, and Beats Music.
While at Apple she reinvented the company’s social strategy, launching nine channels that drew 10 million followers in eight months, and also established formal partnerships with Snapchat, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. At Interscope she oversaw all digital marketing activities and partnerships and at Beats Music she established a digital marketing organization and created a customer relationship management platform.
Kain has been speaking about the underrepresentation of women in the music industry for years, and previously told Forbes that women should be empowered to become fearless in sharing new ideas.
In addition to pioneering new experiences and managing digital presence, Kain has spoken at length about the challenges of data protection and management, as AEG handles all of the data it uses for its programs and analysis in-house.
