Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Announce ’21 Tour Kicking Off In July
Adam Kissick / Newport Folk – Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats play a surprise set during Newport Folk Festival at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, R.I., July 30.
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats are back with a summer and fall tour, including their Red Rocks run, performances at Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival, and more, bringing along friends and contemporaries such as Marcus King, Margo Price, and still more.
Rateliff, who had released a solo album in February 2020, was planning a full year of touring before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. He remained active with streaming events and fundraisers including leading the charge for the Colorado Music Relief Fund that raised over $800,000 for musicians and crew members. Rateliff and his 10-piece band also did a September 2020 socially distanced Red Rocks show to a crowd of only 125, which will become a live album released July 17.
For 2021, the touring kicks off July 20 in Charlotte, N.C., at the Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre, and will make stops in markets and venues including Portland, Maine, Missoula, Mont., Spokane, Wash., Boise, Idaho, St. Louis, Mo., and wraps Oct. 13 at Cleveland’s Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica.
Special guests include bluesy guitar maestros The Marcus King Band, Americana favorite Margo Price, folky/roots band Bahamas, rockers Delta Sprit and singer-songwriter Tré Burt.
The band’s 2019 included sold-out headline shows at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. (1,950 tickets), 7,000 tickets at the Merriweather Post Pavilion on a co-bill with Gary Clark Jr., as well as an appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia in April.
The band also promises a new album, its third studio LP, due out this fall.
