Alanis Morissette Adds New 2021 Dates To ‘Jagged Little Pill’ World Tour
David Becker – Alanis Morissette
While expecting a baby on the way, Alanis Morissette rocks the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort on April 26, 2019, in Las Vegas.
Calling all Alanis Morissette fans – you oughta know that the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter added new 2021 dates to the world tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of her acclaimed album Jagged Little Pill.
The 1995 alternative rock / post-grunge masterpiece includes singles “You Oughta Know,” “Hand In My Pocket,” “Ironic,” “You Learn,” “Head Over Feet” and “All I really Want.” Jagged Little Pill earned Morissette six Juno Awards in 1996 including Album of the Year, Best Rock Album and Female Vocalist of the Year. The next year she was awarded the Juno for Single of the Year for “Ironic,” as well as Songwriter of the Year and the International Achievement Award. Morissette picked up four awards at the 1996 Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, Best Female Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song, with the later two wins for the songs “You Oughta Know.” The album also inspired a theatre adaption that premiered in May 2018.
The anniversary world tour – which, like so many other outings, was supposed to take place in 2020 – is set to kick off Aug. 12 in Austin, Texas, at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Due to popular demand, second shows have been added at the Hollywood Bowl and the O2 Arena in London. New U.S. stops have been added at Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center, Denver’s Ball Arena, San Diego’s North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, and Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
The European leg of the tour begins Oct. 28 at Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany, with new stops added in Leeds and Glasgow, U.K.
Special guest Garbage is joining Morissette on the road in North America and Europe and Liz Phair is appearing on the U.S. dates.
“Alanis plus Garbage is like, ‘Wow, that’s cool,’” CAA’s Nat Farnham previously told Pollstar in early 2020 during an interview for a think-piece feature story about ’90s nostalgia package tours that were planned for North American amphitheaters in summer 2020 including CAA client Matchbox Twenty touring with special guests and fellow CAA client The Wallflowers. “Alanis plus Garbage plus Liz Phair? That’s a fucking home run.”
Dates booked in Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines have been moved to November 2022, with appearances from Julia Stone and Up Dharma Down.
Reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice for Morissette include a two-night stand at Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas April 26-27 that sold 3,297 tickets and grossed $317,663.
